How you trying to "download"?  Are you right clicking on an image on the website and selecting Save As, or what?  What type of file is it?  What browser are you using?

How you trying to "download"?  Are you right clicking on an image on the website and selecting Save As, or what?  What type of file is it?  What browser are you using?

Downloading straight from web sites.

Right clicking, save as, a lot will download but the ones that have " th " in the bar will not, even after renaming.

File, i don't know, CH would not let me post a photo of it and when i click it, i get the inage above on screen.

I tried both ie and chrome.

Downloading straight from web sites.

Right clicking, save as, a lot will download ...
To be technically correct, I would not call the right-click and save technique downloading.  If you download a file, you'll typically have to click on a download button and your browser will open a separate panel/window for the download.  And, if you elect to save the file instead of immediately running it, your browser will display a separate download panel upon completion of the download; that panel will show other downloaded files, if there were any, until its history is cleared.  True downloading is usually the method of downloading software files ending in file extension .exe.

You have said you are using a right click, not starting a "download". So, Now back to what you're doing, which to save an image from a web page.  In IE, you woud right click on an image and select "Save Picture as".  A panel will open which clearly shows the file type.  So, why do you not know the file type?

Can you post a specific page and describe a specfic image and what browser you used so that we can try saving it?

How large is the image? Have you tried to save it as a screenshot?
In Windows  7 you could try the snipping tool .

The photos are standard photos from Yahoo photos or other sites

With ie, right click and save as, on right click the come up with " th " followed by a number or name, they do get saved to my pc.

With chrome they only come up with " th " 9 out of 10 would not save as a photo but a file, renaming is no good.

The file is a MS-DOS Application (.com)

In general usage, I agree.  I was trying to make a distinction that I thought might help sort out exactly what he's doing.

Your comments are just too vague and/or inaccurate to make any sense of them.  Below is a screenshot of my saving of an image from the home page of Yahoo, using IE.

There is no " th ".  And, the file type is clearly .jpg.

Thanks soybean.

the first screen shot is ie the second chrome they are both of the same photo from yahoo, you will see the second only has th in the bar.

Would be that downloading in chrome is turning them into a file, but ie is downloading them as a photo.

Hope you understand  :)

What's the betting 'th' means 'thumbnail'?

There you go... right clicked on top left image... (now you know my name's Mike...)

I wonder why he didn't provide screen shots of what he was trying to download? I hope they weren't "bikini babes"?
