I had this same issue with the previous version 17.?.? before I updated Firefox to v18.0 ~15 min ago.
When I open a new tab I prefer to go to my home page (Goggle search), but FF shows a page with 9 windows of recently viewed pages. I'd rather go to Goggle search, which I can do by ticking the 'Home' icon in the menu bar. But this requires an extra click that I'd rather not be required to do. So how do I get it to access my home page when opening a new tab. I don't see an option for this in 'Tools/Options' tab?
Thanks for any help!  :)
Mike

Open about:config, search for browser.newtab.url and enter whatever value you like. I use about:newtab which is a blank page.

I'm not real smart on this but I entered "about:config" in the search bar and this is the screen I get; Attached.
What am I doing wrong?

Also, if I click on "about:config" directly from the drop down menu the result opens a "Navigation Cancelled" page within Internet Explorer" (Firefox is set to 'Default Browser' on this machine?
Thanks for the help Allan!  :)

Thanks for the example!

In 'browser.newtab.url' I entered - https://www.google.com/
and that works just fine.
Thanks for the help Allan!!!  ;)

If I had not had you guru's to help me during the past several years, I'd probably be a happy customer at the local mental institute lol.  ;D
