    When ever i try to install a program using a installer it the circle keeps spinning and then it stops.
    I am trying to install sony vegas pro 12
    HP Pavilion g7-1178ca Notebook PC

    Welcome to the forum.
    Is you Windows XP up to date? some ,me time ago the Windows program  installer was reworked for Windows XP. Like 2005.

    Here is a recent item fro MS.

    This may help you learn about the installer.

    My gut felling is you have a dirty CD-Rom drive. Get a drive cleaner from a local store and clean the CD-Rom drive.
