No, I don't have the CD. Our PC is secondhand.

Well i was going to suggest a Repair Install of XP...but you need a MS XP CD to do so...and the versions have to match...
See if you can borrow one on your end.

What is the model number? Motherboards without PS/2 ports will accept a USB keyboard. Start with just the keyboard and NO other USB things. The keyboard lights swill flash and you can get into the BIOS. If there is not keyboard found, the BIOS should halt with an error message.

That works for the BIOS...he needs it for Windows...he has moved/deleted all USB drivers by mistake.

Patio, your are right. He will have to install windows again to get the default drivers back.

If there is data he wants to save, now is the time to borrow a "Live" CD  from a friend and use it to make a backup of his data
Or if he has another working PC,  or another hard drive, he can save his stuff and install XP again.

This you tube video about using EASUS might help. Sort of.

I removed the originals because the computer didn't recognize my Nokia 5130 XpressMusic in USB mass memory mode. It said the device has malfunctioned. It worked fine before. So I tried to remedy that. How do I reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers?

Are you plugging this directly into a USB port on the computer or through an external hub?

Some devices, like phones and external hard drives, are a bit demanding for power and will cause this error when they're plugged into a hub or a group of ports that already have significant pull from them. Try unplugging as many unnecessary devices as you can, then plugging in the phone.

From my experience, Nokia phones are notoriously finicky when doing this.

I'm plugging it in the computer's own usb ports. No external hubs.

You 've mentioned on your first post that they were moved to My Documents, have you tried using a Linux live disc to access the moved files back to their original directory?

So far I haven't gotten hold of any CDs yet to fix the computer.

Hi there. My parents took the computer in for repairs and they are stunned by this problem. Unfortunately they don't give out cds. It just shows how stupid they really are. I was wondering if I could suggest to them to do a repair install. My question to you is: will the keyboard and mouse work during the repairing process?

If they know what they are doing...yes.
However them stating they have a lack of CD's tells me you may want to get an opinion of another shop...

Wondering if this was done or its not possible to relocate back the moved files...
