Can pulling on a GPU in the PCIe slot when stuck cause damage?
    « on: February 28, 2013, 05:10:59 AM »
Hi, when I was trying to remove the GPU from the PCIe slot, I forgot to push down the clip. I was trying to pull out the GPU. If the PCIe slot and GPU still works can I forget about it?
It's one of the Asus Sabretooth motherboards.

Are you stating you broke the clip off ? ?
Many clients PC's i work on have this piece broken off (guess your not the only one who has done that ) and as long as you make sure the card is firmly seated and the hold down screw is in place you should be OK...
Note: if the PC is ever moved for any reason remember to check the cards seating...

Hi, Patio  I have broken nothing on the motherboard. I'm just worried I damaged something like the soldering. The motherboard did start to flex when I was pulling on the GPU. I'm going to see if the board and GPU is working tonight. Thank you.
