    wireless adapter n pci
    « on: March 05, 2013, 12:42:29 PM »
I was going to take it out to reinstall the drivers. When I reboot the system the fan comes on for one second and shuts down. I put the wireless adapter back in and it works fine. I can't reinstall my adapter as I am not able to reinstall the drivers as along as it is out. Is there something from the mother board that is causing this or any ideas . Thank you

Can you explain this in more detail?
    1.  I was going to take it out to reinstall the drivers.
Take the card out of the desktop?  PCI or PCI-e?
Why would you need to take it out to install drivers?  Card must be installed.
    2.  I put the wireless adapter back in and it works fine.
According to your statement, you never removed the card, i.e. "I was going to take it out..."
    3.  I can't reinstall my adapter as I am not able to reinstall the drivers as along as it is out.
I told you that in #1
    4.  Is there something from the mother board that is causing this..
I don't think the card is fully seated.  Is it one of those really short slots?

I took it out of the short slots to install the driver as I reinstalled the operating system .You have to have the adapter out to  install the driver and then put the adapter back in once the driver is installed .When I booted up to install the driver the fan and I think the hard drive for came on for  second and stopped. I put the adapter back in the slot and turn the computer on and it boots up.  Since I reinstalled the operating system no longer shows that driver installed .Sorry for not making my self clear.

After you re-installed the OS did you remember to re-install your MBoard drivers ? ?
Chipset drivers 1st...re-boot...then all the others.

The drivers are on a CD that shipped with the PC...
If you do not have it they are available at the Manuf. website...make sure you have the model # correct.

The OS CD is different...depends on the PC.
Usually there is a 2nd CD labelled Drivers...what exactly does it say on this CD

                Good plan...
Make sure you have the Model/serial # for the PC and select the OS...
