SP1 "failure configuring service pack"
« on: March 15, 2013, 12:05:49 AM »
I'm trying to install SP1 in Windows 7, but every time I start the computer after I installed SP1 it just say "failure configuring service pack" when it gets to 11%. It is the first time I install Win7 on a SSD, and it is a brand new. I have all of the updates that Windows update can find, and I downloaded some patch from Microsoft that was suppose to help with this issue.

I have renamed the "SoftwareDistribution" folder, I tried the "System Update Readiness Tool" and it always "Fixes" 2 problems, I have 20gig of free space, no errors on "SFC  /SCANNOW" command, I downloaded the 2gig SP1 file from Microsoft and tried that.

Anyone know any fix, or should I just reformat Win7 again?

Sounds like you had a faulty update. More than likely, one that got hung up. What I would do is reset the factory settings. That will in turn, reset all the system updates done. Now, re-install your new internet browser (IE9) and then the Service pack.
