so do I search for the motherboard drivers manually or Windows Update does it automatically ? also I used Driver Reviver software - it showed no out of date drivers... I might be wrong tho

-EDIT-
Okay so I just opened up my Device Manager and noticed something I never noticed before - a few 'Other Devices' (namely PCI slots) have exclamation marks next to them, turns out their drivers are not installed (code 28) or something similar, Driver Reviver can't even find them and Windows built-in driver updater is not able to find drivers for those ... I'll try to find the drivers for those and post back here with (hopefully good) results...

Driver finder apps are garbage...not reliable at all.
Same with allowing Windows to update them...reason being if Windows doesn't find the proper ones it simply inserts it's own generic drivers in place for the Device...which is not always adequate.

Travel to the MBoard manuf. site 1st...enter your Model # and what Win version you are running and the drivers should be listed.
DLoad them all...install the Chipset driver 1st and re-boot...then you can install all others.

should I let windows update install anything then ? I mean let's say I update my drivers manually it wouldn't overwrite them ?

Follow the instructions above and install your drivers from the Manuf. site...
Once that is complete and they are in place Win Update will not overwrite them since they are the correct ones to have.
Do you know anyone in your area that works on PC's and can assist perhaps ? ?

Then you need to trust and follow the advice given here...
Without that you will not arrive at a solution.
The missing device is part of the MBoard Chipset drivers...

Please see my 2nd last Post directly above and follow the instructions to a tee...

And get rid of Driver reviver...it's Junk.

Yeah I'm working on it now, and yeah I never really trusted any kind of 3rd party software that alters your systems (be it driver updaters or performance boosters etc) I was just so desperate I decided to try it...

-EDIT-

Should I reinstall my windows before doing all the updating anew ? I do have a restore point made at first boot after I formated and reinstalled my win7... would that help me restore my pc at that state ?

Ok I installed the drivers for my mboard, now to test it... tho I'm still having 'not responding' problems... my HDD goes quiet when those occur, maybe I should take my HDD for warranty check ?

-EDIT-

Crashed 2 minutes ago ... **** ... Gonna try to clean reinstall my windows and then install the drivers... this is REALLY annoying ...

Okay, clean install of Windows, drivers installed haven't crashed for 4 hours and no 'not responding' problems, tho program responsiveness is still questionable, they still stutter from time to time...

Did you install ALL drivers this PC requires ? ?
Or did you just feel lucky after the Chpset driver install went well ? ?

I didn't notice the reply, thought my topic died... Yes I do have all the drivers (at least the device manager doesn't show any exclamation marks anymore) I have to say that I haven't experienced a BSOD for quite some time now, although my computer still crashes randomly and programs don't respond pretty often...

This is the most common crash: http://imgur.com/fohMdMC
This is less common: http://imgur.com/Lt5RKeV

Both of these are extremely annoying since I have to kill my laptop power (hold the power button) to restart it
