    New build wont boot.
    « on: April 18, 2013, 09:35:24 PM »
Decided to try and set up my new comp minus the graphics card which comes in 2 weeks. Put everything together. Turned it on. The fans and LED's all start  then after a few seconds, everything turns off and then back on again but no beeps and no boot. I have never encounted this issue before and dont even know where to start. Here is what I have:

    Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V\GEN3
    Ram: Cosair Vengeance 4x4gb DDR3
I have two 1.5 TB hard drives. One is a Samsung, the other is a Seagate Barracuda
the top and front each have a 140mm fan, the back has 120mm fan and the sides have 2 120mm fans
    Processor: Intel Core i5-2500k
    PSU: Corsair TX750w

    Some one please help!

Does the mobo have a VGA?
Without the drives, does it get into the BIOS?
Do you get the Motherboard  Sash screen?

Try using one stick of RAM alternately or none if the problem persist. Swap in a known working PSU as a 2nd option with only the VGA slot on monitor, PSU and one RAM of stick then check the difference.

tried the 1 stick thing, and still got the same result....I don't have a second power supply, but were I to get one, would it still need to be 750w?

Borrow another PSU...550W or above and swap it in there to test...

I've seen the craziest things, keep a new build from booting.
Like the psu set for 220v instead of 110v.  I can guarantee that, if the PSU came from S. America or a dealer who deals with S. American countries.
I used to buy PSU's from a wholesaler in Miami, and every one of them was set for 220v operation.  The switch is on the back of the PSU, next to the power input socket.
On a new MOBO, I've seen the CMOS shorting jumper in the SHORT position, and a blocking tab under the CMOS battery.
All of the above, take only a few seconds to check.

The problems just go on from there.  If it can go wrong, I've probably had it go wrong for me, sometime in the last 33 years since I built my first XT Clone.
Once a guy learns all the little pitfalls, in building a PC, and learns how to avoid them, a new build can take less than an hour and run correctly on the first Power Up.

Done, Still the same problem... I think it might be the processor. I noticed that  the processor light on my mobo is coming on when everything begins to start up.....that really upsets me.
