cleanmgr will not work

Hi,
I have a windows 7 computer about 6 months old and cleanmgr will not work. If I go to the command prompt and type 'AAA' it tells me 'AAA is not an executable.........'  Type 'cleanmgr' and the screen just shows the prompt again. I guess this means it finds the program and quits.

What is typing "AAA" supposed to accomplish?

Are you trying to run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility?

Just trying to say if you type something that is not a command you get told that. I type cleanmgr at the prompt and and it  finds the program but the program does not work.

If you open All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click on Disk Cleanup, can run it?

on every other computer I have disk cleanup shows up under system tools but not this one

This happens if you set a custom size for the Recycle Bin also...

WIN+R %windir%\systen32\cleanmgr says 'cannot find cleanmgr'. Can I download it from somewhere?

There are 3 methods in that link...did you try them all ? ?

Yes, the first one cleanup is listed but when you click it does nothing. The second option cleanup is not listed

What happens if you try to get to disc cleanup via Explorer (right - click on the drive, properties)?

Finally an answer. Running via explorer says 'windows can't find........ It maybe corrupt or missing... to reinstall run windows setup.' My windows came preinstalled and I don't have a disk. Can I just copy it from another computer.

I don't know about downloading that file but you could download and install CCleaner and use its Cleaner tool.

It's Win7...
Re-boot the PC...tap F8 repeatedly on startup...if you see the Win logo you waited too long...
Choose Advanced startup menu...and from there choose startup repair...do NOT interrupt it...
