    excel file always saves in unknown format automatically

    in  my win 7 office 2003 already installed.i uninstalled office 2003 in win7.then i insalled office 2010 in win7.i create a file in excel and  saved in desktop as xlsx format.but excel file does not open directly.it see as an unknown format in desktop. microsoft excel program is  not in recommended program. i see an excel.pip in recommended program .i could not delete it. how i can open every excel file driectly.please help me. how to come all excel files in excel icon.

    This can be caused by a couple of things.
    My main suggestion for fixing this is to:
    • Right click on the file you want to open, ie. "File.xlsx"
    • Select "Open With..."
    • Click on "Choose Program..."
    • Click on "Microsoft Office Excel"
      (If you do not see this option, click Browse, then locate "EXCEL.EXE" (Under C:\Program Files x86\Microsoft Office\Office12\excel.exe"))
    • Check mark "Always use the selected program to open this type of file"
    • Click on "Ok"

    If this is 32Bit windows you may not have a "Program Files x86" folder, so just replace that with "Program Files"

    This should work to open those files from now on. However this could be a more serious problem, and you may want to get someone to look at your computer if you are not experienced with problems like this.

    Run a repair on the Office 2010 installation from Add/Remove programs.

    This issue results from having multiple Office installations, as documented here.
    I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
