    Strange flash player problems (help)
    « on: April 28, 2013, 09:22:28 AM »
I'm not sure where this goes so I'm putting it here. If this is the wrong area please move it to the correct area thank you.

Ever since I installed the lastest Adobe Flash Player update, which, I believe is 11.7.700.169 I been having strange problems with flash videos.

It doesn't happen on YouTube but it happens everywhere else with other videos.

As I'm watching a video, the audio of the video will mute all of sudden, even though I don't have the video or my volume muted and I have to pause the video in order to fix it and the video skips a little after I unpause it.

I am using FireFox 20.0.1 and Windows Vista operating system. However, it's not just happening on my main desktop computer. The problem also occurs on my Windows 7 laptop. My laptop has the same browser though.

This cannot be a problem on my end.

Does anyone know how I can fix this or am I just going to have to wait for Adobe to release another update which will hopefully fix the problem?

I'd really appreciate any help anyone here could give me with this.

    Thank you.

You might try an earlier version of Fire Fox and an earlier version of Flash just to see if the problem is really with the browser and Flash.

Be aware there was a virus that claimed to be a flash update.

(Ignore the advertisement. I posted its just to show that is such a virus.)

IMHO you might have some other issue. I can't believe you don't scam for virus on a regular basis.

I do. I never come up with anything except for "PUPs" flagged by Spybot which I know are safe.

I guess I'll just have to wait for another adobe flash player update and hope that solves the problem...

Right click the flash video, and uncheck "Use Hardware Acceleration"

      See how that goes.

I have a screen flickering issue with flash videos. Unchecking that helped me.

Oh... What if you check it?

I've had problems with that before and I unchecked it and even "use hardware acceleration" in my FireFox too because the flash player would crash a lot.

Even with that it still crashes a lot.

I guess I will just have to hope the next flash player update fixes the problem...

Can you clarify...is the PC crashing...or just the browser ? ?

Neither. The plugin just keeps crashing. The Adobe Flash player plugin.

How does it act on the different web browser?

I would give Google Chrome a shot.

If it works in Chrome, we know it's an issue with Firefox.
If it doesn't work in Chrome, we know it's a universal problem.

              No thank you. Sorry.

I prefer FireFox and the last time I used Chrome it was super slow.

Just asking you to try it.... Not asking you to switch to Chrome.

Diagnosing computers is all about trial and error.

Without trial, we cannot determine the error.

                Okay.

Hopefully installing the next flash player update released will fix the problem.

If it doesn't I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Thanks for the help anyway though.

You don't need to un-install FFox...you can have as many browsers as you want...
I'd follow Carbon's suggestions above so we know what it is.

Have you tried unchecking add-ons in Firefox that might interfere with flash videos?
