    Hi,

I have recently built my own computer, with a i core 3 processor, 8gb of ram. And with windows 7 operating software.
However when i plug in a memory stick whether straight into the motherboard or the front. And i try to open a file larger than about 10mb the windows explorer crashes and says that the folder is empty.
The memory stick works fine in other computer.
I do not disconnect it when i take it out. But my computer can read it when i put it in and it comes up under device manager.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I presume that it's a video file? If yes, see this link.

Nope a pdf or word file also makes it crash.

???  What does this mean?  Do you mean you don't use the Safely Remove Hardware feature when you remove it?

I wouldn't think a .Pdf or Word file would be too large...
We're gonna need alot more info.

What info do you need? If you tell me where to find it, I'll post it.

And i just have never used the safely remove hardware and never had an issues.

Check the file sizes on the PC that opens them...i don't believe size is the issue here...
Also not using safely remove means that one day you will find that stick empty of all data...so you should use it.
