Two years is enough time to have made a backup.
Here are areas you can  check:
    Memory chip may be dialoged.
    Battery may be bad.
CPU fan is full of dust.
Keyboard is full of dirt or junk. (maybe split coffee with cream.)
    Hard drive is failing.
    Somebody dropped it. (The janitor?)

I had a back up but we just moved and its lost
No one has dropped it or spill le anything on it the fan sounds like its running fine
Battery is new but is plugged in
As it was freezing in safe mode at avgishad.exe I thought it maybe something to do with my antivirus
      Any ideas are most welcome

All laptops have different key combos for a factory restore...
Visit the Toshiba site for more info on doing so.
