    Does it mean the HDD needs to be replaced?
    « on: May 31, 2013, 08:28:33 AM »
    Hi all,

    My computer has a 500GB HDD running windows 7.
    Recently, I found that the loading time of the windows 7 kept increasing from 2 minutes to 5 minutes, so I did a simple HDD check by right clicking My Computer and using the Error-checking in the Tool tab. The HDD checking was fast in the beginning but it became slowing down and even stopped after sshowing the message "624 files were checked...".

    The PC loaded a black screen and was doing a disk check after rebooting the PC, it showed me some things like these:
    72 large file records processed
    0 bad files records
    2 EA records processed
    28 reparse records processed

    I need some help.

    Thank you for you time.
     Kitty

    DLoad and run the Free diagnostics from the HDD manuf. site...run the Long Test.

    How much free space is on this drive ? ?

      Just checking...some people fill their drives to 90% capacity and wonder why it's slow...
      Go ahead and run the Test then.

        Running a full virus and malware scan could also help you. I would recommend Avira and Malwarebytes for this job to be done.

          Try Malwarebytes Antimalware, SuperAntiSpyware and Spybot Search and Destroy. They are good tools.
          1-10 rated, where 1-3 is good, 4-6 is medium, 7-9 is bad, and 10 is severe.
          It is in a form like this:
          Number = Statement"Rank Name"Rate
          All of them apply to this rule.
          0 = Good"Good Computer"1
          1-5 = Benign"A Tiny Risky"3
          6-10 = Small Risk"A Bit Bigger Risk"4
          11-20 = Medium Risk"Middle"4
          20-49 = High Risk"Watch Out"7
          50-100 = Severe Risk"Big Germ"9
          100+ = Big Risk"Huge Germ"10
