Terratec DMX 6 fire sound card

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have a DMX 6 fire sound card in my PC with a main purpose of recording live music(Guitar etc). The sound recordings have recently got crackly and this problem has persisted. Nothing has happened to the hardware but this problem has stopped any production now and I would greatly appreciate any help.

Can you remove and reinsert the card? Uninstall and reinstall the software? Are there updated drivers for it? Did anything happen to it or the computer?
