White Space Update. Google in South Africa.

Google using ‘white spaces’ spectrum to deliver Wi-Fi to South African schools

As you recall, 'white spaces' is not the same as Wi-Fi in the literal way. Use of 'white space' is limited to some areas and under regulation. The greatest hope is for non-urban villages way out beyond TV broadcasts. White Space can open up large nrutal areas nto the Internet. White Space is a lot more powerful than  the 802.11 thing that is used for short distances. A While Space transponder could have a radius of over 14 miles when mounted on a small  hilltop.

Having said that, here is the new Google SA story:

Earlier a related story was published about Kenya

Of curse, white Space can be used anyplace governments allow it. Here in the USA all Waite Space stuff has to be far away from the big cities.
