    Scanner
    « on: August 02, 2013, 10:39:31 AM »
I have a visioneer scanner model 8700. It only scans a document halfway and then stops. There is no picture of what is being scanned. I also keep getting a message telling me "An unnamed file contains an invalid path." The scanner icon  in control panel (scanners) only shows add a new device. The scanner icon is not there. The icon is in the task bar and is fully functional but nothing can be copied. I need some help on how to remedy this problem. Thank you

Welcome the CH. Volunteers here are ready to help you.
Your problem sounds very strange, almost as if there was a defect in the scanner.

First, you can make clear  things about your problem.
Is this a case of where is was working, or did you just now start to use it the first time?
Are you using Windows 7 as the operating system on the PC?
Did the scanner come with a install CD? Did you use it?

Ifs the scanner is new and under warranty, you  must return it ASAP.

I've had the scanner a long time. It worked perfectly fine. I used a cd that came with it. I'm running windows xp home with sp3. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times over the months and I kept getting the same result as I mentioned. The message is always the same as well.

I went to the website you mentioned and did everything that they said and still got the same results with the same message. An unammed file contains an invalid path. Is there anything else I can do to get this scanner working properly?
