Update to crash my pc?

I recently updated my computer I'm running windows 7, and after I update and log back on my background is completely red and no programs or files will open not even taks manager. Luckily I can restore my computer to before the update but that doesn't really fix the problem. I hope I can get some good news here

You did the right thug.
Everybody should have a backup plan. Besides the restore feature of windows, it is a good idea to make a full backup from time to time.

As to your problem, make sure you have a backup, wait a few days and do the  next update next week. Assume it was something that either got fixed  or it was a glitch in the download.

A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system. It is often used to describe a transient fault that corrects itself, and is therefore difficult to troubleshoot.

Well unfortunately it hasn't worked it automatically updates when the system is off now it will not configure windows properly
