    why are data files showing?
    « on: September 15, 2013, 07:35:36 AM »
When I hit the start button and do a search for example a music video file I see a lot of "data" listings.  There is nothing in data that I can use (although of course 'data' is necessary) and it complicates and clutters the screen.  I don't think it used to be that way like a couple years ago.  Is this something I somehow enabled in my view or is it a feature of Vista or Win7 or...?  Is there a way to block seeing these files?  I see them on my smart phone too and with that small screen it's even more of a nusiance.

Have you tried using the Windows Explorer Search bar? I don't get the best or refine search when using the Search Programs and Files box. Usually use the start box search for exe files or programs not pinned on taskbar or on desktop.
