You have to have either the OEM CD or the product key.

You don't need the product key to do a repair. All you need is the identical version that you have on your computer.

thank you everyone very much, but i am returning the computer to the owner and i will no longer speak to this person and i really do not want to help him with it anymore.  all is good, until next time,  any tips on the best way to download so many updates tyvm take care
