Looking to upgrade my computer, could use some help!
    « on: December 10, 2013, 12:58:45 PM »
Hello I'm looking to upgrade my
PC to be able to play newer games and
just something to give my computer a little bit
more processing power since it's a little out dated.

This is my current set up

My current budget is around 500 but if I need to spend more
don't be afraid to tell me

I also have a decent sized case

Why are you unhappy? The thing is already in the upper levels of retail computers.
IMHO, the only area you have to improve is in the video graphics.
But before you do that, think about a newer motherboard. For $220 you can get a nice new motherboard, but no way to know if it would really improve performance.

WAS in the upper level; it's probably about 5 years old now.  I just had to replace my desktop & am amazed how much faster this one is, see Specs for 1).  It also runs a lot cooler, even though the old one ran cool.  This one barely gets warm.

That machine is pretty outdated so you will be limited when upgrading it as you would probably want a new CPU which leads to a new motherboard and RAM.  Then replacing the motherboard means you would then need a new licence for Windows (This is tied to the board)

What is the full video card you have?  The Radon 6700 series mentioned in the screenshot should be pretty new

Personally at this stage I would consider selling your current machine as it is and using the money you get from the sale along with your $500 to build/buy a completely new one.
