    Is my motherboard fried?
    « on: October 20, 2005, 05:22:26 PM »
When I took out my modem in my cpu, the computer was still on and now when I turn it on, nothing shows up on the monitor and also you can only see the green and red light on my computer. The hard drive spins and the fans turn on, its just that nothing shows up on the monitor. Is my motherboard fried? Would it also be possible that my video card got fried too? But the fan was still running on it.

    Why would you do this?
Who knows what's damaged...could be anything or everything.  If fan is on, 12V from power supply is still working.

      Steven:

I'm glad you didn't get electrocuted!

It may be that the video card was just jarred loose when you removed the modem expansion card.  Simply reseating it in the slot may do the trick.  You will still have to pay the repair shop for the labor, however.

      Blessings to you,
      Doc

Lol thx ur too kind! ;) Luckily the person can fix it for free because I know him, but I might have to pay for the parts if they did get fried. I hope my evga 6800 didnt get fried because I don't want to pay another 200 for it. Or maybe I can get it RMAd
