Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Ran a sfc/scannow and it said i had corrupt files that could not be fixed....after that i ran a Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth  and it fixed it but i was just curious as to what exactly this command did and what exactly it fixed..anyone know?

if we could put it in simple english what exactly does it do
