I removed dust from my CPU only and it did a major preformance boost. Its good to use a dry q tip to wipe out the dust once a year.

I started my computer and found a heavy sound coming from the SMPS.

I saw there lot of dust.

I remove that dust as much as I could.

Then the sound stops.

The sound comes from friction with blades of the fan with dust.

Now I am happy.

Sometimes canned air will help, BUT you have to prevent the fan blades from turning while using it to prevent damage. I don't know about the leaf blower, but I imagine the same.

Really? I'll have to remember that. I've always just let the blades spin, assuming that was an aid in removing the junk.

Too forceful and can damage fan blades or bearings. Looks cool, though!

My fan is always on, but with my Motherboard I can throtle the fan speed. Right now I ncreased the fan speed by 50% which makes a whistling sound but at leat my computer is cool

My GX1 doesn't even have a fan on the CPU. 6+ years and still going strong!

The biggest cause is the psu......witch act like a hover......sucking the dust into the case........reversing the polarity of it........so the fan on the psu spins........outwards........>All electrical componants attract dust?

I've never seen a psu fan that blows air into the case.
