OK, I overhauled all the internal connections and got a working monitor screen. Next I used a Ubuntu OS CD to transfer all my important E drive files to an external drive. It couldn't see the C drive though . Anyway, I was then able to reinstall Windows XP, break the original RAID array and use the second internal hard drive as a data drive. No more RAID for me- and no more ' Hardware Helper ' either.
