pinging
« on: October 30, 2005, 06:59:33 PM »
Hi all

I have Norton anti-virus/firewall, and have successfully restricted IP addressess who have attempted to attack my pc. What I'd like to know, however, is how I can 'ping' an attacker. By the way, i've just joined Computer Hope and think it's a brilliant site so have added it to my favourites

Cheers

John

I'm not sure  why you would want to ping an attacker's computer... However, the usual instructions on how to run a ping test can be found here... http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000445.htm ... Scroll down to additional troubleshooting... This should do exactly what you would like...  ;)

You may want to Google for "Blues Port Scanner" too.

    Ping adress in MS-DOS Prompt.

If you didn't know that, you probably shouldn't be pinging.

Ever paid attention in history class regarding the German wolfgang subs? No? Thought so.

Thanks for advice all (apart from 'raptor') and thanks, Administrator, for reminding us that courtesy costs nothing. Condescension reflects more on the inadequacies of the condescender than on anything else of any worth! (hello 'raptor!),  :D and thanks for supportive comments about this, Ross & Admin.

    Want courtesy?

Go *censored* yourself. Only a 12 year old taiwanese hooker is going to be more courteous.  ;D

By the way, Fed is not an administrator. n00b.  ;)
