non-detection of cd-rw drive
« on: October 22, 2005, 04:36:55 PM »
Hello, I've been having a bit of trouble with my CD-RW drive lately.

I have a Sony VAIO PCG-Z1VA laptop, and my cd-rw drive is a Matshita ujda755 dvd/cdrw. My computer seems to think that this drive is a CD-ROM drive and not a cd-rw drive. Under "My Computer," the drive's name si "DVD/CD-RW." However, when I right click to "Properties," I can't change the burning options, because there isn't a tab for me to do so.

Also, I tried using both Roxi Easy-CD Creator (which does support my cd-rw drive), as well as the Windows XP program to burn a CD, but neither one detects my drive as a CD-RW drive.

Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you checked the Sony web site or forums? I am assuming this is an internal drive.
