Probably System Restore files located in your System Volume Information folder(s). Could also be the pagefile (located in the root of c:) or your temporary internet files folder.

Scratch the last question. I got what I need.

It looks like I'm unable to a Repair Install (Upgrade Install) while booted from the Windows installation USB I created. It's telling me I need to be booted into the Windows on my HDD in order to be able to run the Upgrade Install option from the USB. I've come across people with the exact same issue running various Google searches and so far there's been no confident answer on how to get around this issue and "trick" the Windows installation into thinking its been booted from the HDD. Any ideas?

I don't know of a way to do a repair/upgrade install from the USB or DVD, only from within Windows.
I'll watch and perhaps learn something if there's a trick to doing it.

A Repair Install and an Upgrade Install are 2 different things...

What exactly is it you have on the USB stik ? ?

Can't you just create a bootable DVD with Win7 Ultimate on it ? ?...that's what you use to run a Repair Install...

Actually, the upgrade install and repair install are the same thing.

From all i've read you can do a clean install from the Upgrade media...but not a Repair install...

You can "Repair Windows" from the installation disc, but that hasn't worked for me. What I'm trying to do is do an upgrade install (or repair install) from my bootable USB with Windows 7 Ultimate on it. This seems to be impossible when booted from that USB, which means I don't have many options other than a clean install since I can't boot Windows from my HDD. I've come across a few places online where people make it sound like it might be possible to "trick" the installation into thinking the computer is booted from the HDD, allowing a repair install from the USB, but so far I haven't found anything conclusive.

Also, I tried booting Ubuntu and then running the upgrade install from the USB, but it kept coming back with errors saying it couldn't complete that action.

correct, that's not what I was saying. An upgrade install is the same as a repair install - but yes, both have to be done from an full version install disc, not an upgrade version. It wasn't clear to me that in your first post you were saying that a repair install and an upgrade install from an upgrade version are 2 different things. We're saying the same thing. Just a little semantic issue :)

We always say the same things...just differently.
However i'll stick to my point a repair install isn't an option from the upgrade CD/DVD...
