USB 3.0 driver for windows 7 on HP pavilion dm1 4300ec
    « on: February 14, 2014, 09:21:29 AM »
I have laptop HP pavilion dm1 4300ec (chipset AMD A68M FCH ) with Windows 8 preinstalled. I downgraded it to Windows 7 professional 64 bit with SP1. Everything works fine expect USB 3.0 port. I have three USB ports. Two of them (USB 2.0) work OK, but third (USB 3.0) is only useless hole. I tried reinstall a lot of different drivers, but probably they were not for my laptop. Anyone who had similar experiences and solved them? Please give me advice

Did you re-install Win7 Drivers from the laptop manuf. site after the downgrade ? ?

MBoard drivers 1st...then re-boot...then all others.

Windows 8 has native USB 3.0 drivers, Windows 7 does not except for Intel Ivy Bridge chipset & later.
HP has no Windows 7 drivers for your model.

    I suspected as much...
Many Win8 PC's are being sold that way...much the same as they did with Vista.

Ok, so is there a solution to get my USB 3.0 work on windows 7 on my laptop or not?

The PC has no Win7 drivers...you will have other issues running Win7 on it as well...so short answer is no.

Hmm. Anybody else, who has different opinion???  Sorry for doubt, but i am really not losing my hope and I really really don't want win 8 or win 8.1 and I need windows because of the software, so the only choice for me is windows 7. Everything else work fine except the one USB port, which i am really missing. Please help me anybody. I can't believe that after bloody installing all drivers to correct work, I will be stopped by one USB port....please :'-(

USB 3.0 is embedded into A68M, you'll have to try something from AMD, if you can find anything, I can't.
Your best solution is to go back to Win8.  If you are dead set against this, you will have to do without USB 3.0.

You should have bought a computer with the Intel Ivy Bridge chipset.  I am running Win7-64 & USB 3.0, the 3.0 drivers are provided by Intel.

What software?  Are you saying you have software that runs on Windows 7 but not on Windows 8.1?  What software is that?

I wrote on different forum and the solution appears after few minutes:

so, if someone doesn't know, please say "i don't know" instead of "No, there is not any solution", because it makes me sad :D

Anyway, problem is solved for everybody who has the same problem :)

You were given the route to take if you only would have read:
USB 3.0 is embedded into A68M, you'll have to try something from AMD, if you can find anything, I can't.
            ...

The AMD search engine is terrible.  It only gives results for graphics drivers.  It doesn't even understand the phrase "chipset drivers".
The link you were given is for 700 series & later not for your chipset (A68M).  I'm surprised it works.  You're fortunate to get a valid answer on the HP Support Forum, I've been a member for over 2 years.  The guy that answered you has 28,000 posts & this is the first time I've seen him.  You posted on the right subforum, I usually go here:  http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-HP-ProBook-EliteBook/bd-p/bsc-274

Another reason (for me) never to get an AMD.
