how to get to seconday graphics card specs (no 3d party tools)

Hello all,

I have a laptop with two graphics card ( Intel and ATI ) but when browsing for the display specs using 'dxdiag' or 'Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution\advanced' , only Intel's graphics card information are displayed.
 
How can I list the specs of the secondary laptop graphics card without using  3d party software?

Without a 3rd party tool it'll be tough...

Try the laptop manuf. site for specs.

I hope there is a way to find out without accessing the internet.

The thing is that I am trying to buy a laptop with a friend and when we will be shopping for it, I do not have access to the internet so I would need to list its specs without internet access if possible. I could browse for the graphics card under Device Manager but it would only show the brand and number but not full specs such as amount of memory and whether its shared or not...etc.

Just for the info:  What make and model is your laptop?  Why does a laptop have two graphics cards?  Is this to connect two external monitors?

Most likely a newer iNtel CPU with built in graphics....we may never know however.

Did you try MSInfo32 - Display? Not sure if it will tell you exactly though.

Some Dell laptops have been using dual monitor Intel graphics for some time.
Intel  Q965/q963 Express.
It is an on-board graphics controller.
But there is not easy way to know how much memory is installed.

Edit: Sorry, I now see what the OP means.
I tried Everest Home and it had  to go to the internet to find the data. The chip can support up to 8 GB, but dell only installed 256 MB.

So, when buying a laptop with dual monitor  graphics, you will have to do more research to find out what it has. Everest appears to need internet to get the specs.

Laptops with an Dedicated GPU and a integrated GPU will show both devices in Device Manager.

Yea they will both show up in the Device Manager but not their specs...

It is an acer Aspire E1 572G that has an Intel HD 4000 and ATI Radeon 8750 2GB ...and no, it is not for external monitors... I am only concerned with finding the secondary video card specs ....

I tried MSinfo32 which lists the two graphics card but it only shows 'Adapter RAM' which was correct but it does not show whether it is dedicated or shared...also, MSinfo32 does not list Memory bus bandwidth which is what I also want...

From what I can gather from http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-Aspire-E1-572G-54204G75Mnkk-Notebook.99958.0.html, you need change the active display adapter (graphics card).  In other words, they do not run at the same time.  So, I imagine the dxdiag tool will only report whichever graphics card/display adapter is running when you run dxdiag.
