whant to re install win xp home ed.  but when i put the install disc i recieved with my pc it will not install.           get this message i have an updated virsion and is unable to install.                                                               Just whant everything back to the original status when i bought the pc.                                                                  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. ???

then get a startupdisk

http://www.bootdisk.com <- Windows98SE OEM Version
using the bootdisk use fdisk.exe and FORMAT C: /s <- to partion it to FAT32

That is because your XP CD has got SP1 and your system may have SP2.

All you need to do is to slipstream your XPCD together with SP2 using AutoStreamer 1·0 and burn a new XP SP2 CD from the resulting .ISO file.

Then you can begin installing.
