gateway nv51b13u shuts off randomly when cold

A few weeks ago when the weather was cold, every time I turned my laptop on, it would randomly shut off.  The problem went away when the weather got warmer and I havent experienced the issue since. So Im womndering why the laptop shuts down randomly in cold weather, and is there anything wrong with the hardware or software or is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening.

If you can relate it happening to weather conditions then that means the line quality from pole to the house is the culprit...

hmm, but i have other laptops on the same network that work fine even in cold weather.  So, Im confused, is there any fix, could it be hardware issues?  Im inclined to say not cause it works fine when the weather is warm

Under some rather extreme conditions a battery might show those symptoms.
Ho cold? The battery some function at temps above freezing.

yes the other laptops work fine, quite puzzling, but having done a little looking around on the internet, its clear there are others too who are facing the same issue.  I thought it was the processor overheating, but then wouldnt the laptop feel warm or hot?  I next thought it was the battery, so I tried with just AC power, same thing.  And I believe laptops now have a thermal pad instead of thermal paste, so I guess I cant apply thermal paste.

So what could be it.

You need to use something to monitor your Temps...else it's guesswork.
