Blurry text? That might be your theme and TMP. Go to the themes website and hover the mouse over a few themes with a white background to see if it clears up. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/themes/
I use the default theme, in fact it's the only one I have installed.
The weirdness is for the tab highlight feature, eg- If I say open a link to youtube in a background tab, with the highlight feature set to highlight new tabs, it looks like this:
if I hover over it, it looks like this:
It's kind of weird because it looks like it wants to make really rounded corners in the first one and the second it overdraws each side for whatever reason. It still works perfectly fine, it just looks kind of broken.
