Processor speed

Please Help

I installed some sonic stage software onto my laptop for transfering music to my Minidisc player but when i try to run it, it runs really slow even though the system requirement are easily met.

I ran dxdiag and it tells me that my processor is running at 16Mhz. Is it normal for dxdiag to not give a full reading and if not is there anything I can do.

I have a Dell Latitude Cpi with a pII 400Mhz processor.

Thanks for your help.

    What OS? XP?

Open Task Manager and check how many processes you have running.
Also check the performance of the cpu.

Where in dxdiag does it tell you the performance of the cpu? It's normally for DirectX files such as graphics and sound.

Make certain the Front Side Bus is properly set in the BIOS.

Transfering over USB 1.0 or USB 1.1 (Which, if you are using a 400Mhz processor, is probably the case) is very slow and might even slow down your system considerably.

This is still me i just remembered what my password to log in was.

I'm running 98se, it shows my processor on the first page of dxdiag, in the box headed system information (although now its says 60mhz).

its slow when i upload the cd onto the system from the cdrom drive, I haven't had a chance to transfer it to the minidisc player yet so its not the usb port.
