No one would reccommend ccleaner?  ???
It serves absolutely no purpose. It does nothing you can't do on your own (delete cookies, empty temp folder, etc). If you prefer not to do these things on your own, then ccleaner is fine. But it does NOTHING to impact system performance.

i am very glad i noticed plus read this topic as i was going to install Ashampoo Winoptimizer 2014 ,but from what i've read these are more trouble, and are of none or little use at all.I suppose this is the very reason for Ashampoo giving this program away for free with a free licence..Some other versions don't need any licence plus from what i can gather though it lasts forever even if it ruins your PC.I've previously used Ashampoo burning studio, but now i will give this provider a very wide berth..Many thanks to all of the members for your warnings regarding these type of programs too!  |V|

I agree with not using any at all. These tools cause more trouble than they fix. Empty your browsers caches manually and keep a decent filing system for your files and you will be fine. Use Msconfig to remove startup apps, if you aren't sure of what it is, don't turn it off.

Tune up utilities actually tend to be bloated and large pieces of software, and run at startup, actually slowing you down more...

If you want speed for your OS, get an SSD. I bought a 120GB SSD for my OS and main applications, never looked back.
