If you did what I said and everything is working except the CD, then yes, a new CD Drive should fix it. You can call Dell spare parts.

It will be more than a "real" CDROM drive, because it's a specialty item, but shouldn't be too bad. You can also check on eBay if you want used. Although, sometimes they have new items too like this.

I always wanted a CD-R instead of a CD-ROM, if i could get one of those and installed it, i would have no problems?

I guess you mean a CDRW (a burner)? Yes, that will be fine as long as it is the correct physical size for that machine.
