Noise Cancelling Headphones picking up radio station
    « on: July 11, 2014, 02:12:09 AM »
Hello friends, I am having a weird issue. I am sure it is from my laptop (win 7 home prem, sp1, 64 bit) from ACER (http://bit.ly/1lZkIrk). I have the following battery powered noise cancelling headphone: http://bit.ly/1tu4zDU

The issue I am having is that when the headphones are plugged into the laptop, and the headphones are turned on, I hear a radio station being played. Even when the volume of my laptop is muted or lowered, the station still plays. The 'radio' volume is quite minimal as I can only hear it once my sound from the laptop is off. When the headphones are turned off, I do not hear any bit of the radio, even when the laptop is muted. One interesting thing about this is that I can only hear it on the right side of my headphones. The right side is also where one AAA battery is placed. The on and off button for noise cancelling is on the left. I have created an image to help narrow down the cause of this:

The speakers that I have are ProMedia 2.1 Computer Speakers (http://bit.ly/1y25Kta) and have an audio port as well.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

ps. I do have chinese neighbors and the radio that I always hear are chinese. I will take my laptop to my school tomorrow and see what happens.

Either take the  headphones back or get some ferrite  toroids and wrap them on the cord. This will reduce the 'antenna' effect of the cord. Otherwise it is hard to modify a very small amplifier. Too small to put anything inside.
There are a wide variety of toroids made fro that purpose.
    Small toroids on eBay.

That is the best I cam offer.
