    windows skins?
    « on: July 13, 2014, 12:15:37 AM »
i've always been curious if it'd be cool to have a skin for windows. saw some pretty cool ones, (like http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/208/0/d/soft7_2_0_by_ap_graphik-d2o7oz5.png) and i'd like to give them a try.

unfortunately i have a crappy laptop. so i'm here to ask... are windows skins intense for poopy computers to run? i mean, im pretty sure i have under 4gb ram...

    so yeah, thanks in advance!

    1. Windows skinning does not bog down a computer noticeably.
    2. Welcome to Computer Hope. Many members on here do not like to see toilet words in forum posts. I am one of them.

I would never use one.  Installing Windows themes usually requires patching system files which can of course go wrong.  IMO it's not worth the risk.

Also bear in mind that the theme itself is only half of the story, you would also have to manually go and change all your icons to have it look like that screenshot.
