    I have windows 7 professional. How do I keep the number lock always on.

    You may have that option in the BIOS.
    Also, it can be set in Windows to be always on.
    Please read this article from Microsoft.
    How do I enable the NUM LOCK key for the logon screen?
    If you choose to edit the registry, make sure you have a backup of the registry first.
