retrieving infofrom 98-99 zip/floppy

I have some financial information I need to get that is located on some old  (1998-99) pc zips and floppy discs.  How do I do that?

Do I have to be operating  the Windows system used then...what kind of program do I use?

    As long as you have a zip drive and floppy drive, winzip shoukd be adequate to unzip the files. You will probably have to unzip then to the HD.
