I think I'm just going to have to reformat and reinstall everything.
However I am still mystified as to how everything got so messed up.
I'm sure it's Norton Ghost..and I know many of you wise folk don't like it...but could you please explain whether it is something to do with the 'keep disc signature' and keep MBR' options in ghost that are causing me problems with boot.ini and mbr?
If I set up two partitions using XP pro and then just drop my ghost images in WITHOUT checking the signature or mbr boxes, will all be well?
