monitor goes black after 20 seconds

At first after two hours or so of use the monitor would get dark in a few areas then go black. Then it went black in less and less time, new it goes black in 15 seconds.  :-/

Check that monitor on another computer, and then check that computer with another monitor. Let's see where the problem lies.

A few more details like make/model/age of monitor, type of computer, graphics card, etc. are always helpful in any post as well.
