    « on: November 02, 2005, 08:19:51 AM »
I have a Liteon 52x32x52x CD writer and using Nero Express 5.

The burning process take a thoudsand year to start. After freezing for around 15 minutes, sometime it start burning but completed with data verification error. But most of the time it failed due to fixation error. The following is the log:

What if you uninstall and then reboot and reinstall the software? Can you test the drive out in another computer?

I've tried to reset the drive, reinstall both software and hardware. And the result is same.
I'll get another computer to test the drive.
        Thanks.

Well, I've updated the firmware for the CD Writer and also the Nero software. I also have tested the CD Writer on another computer. All ended the same. I guess this is a hardware failure?

Sigh...guess so...since I'm always have bad luck with this kind of thing e.g. hard disk retired one month after the warranty expired...game pad retired 3 months after warranty expired...just to name a few...

Btw, I think devices like harddisks or CD-ROM drives etc are not repairable?

              Btw, just another minor question:

What are the recommended burning speeds for different file types? Any reason behind?

If I'm burning a O/S (some Linux Download, etc.) I use 4X, for general use 24x. I'm sure you can burn faster, but I've never had any coasters this way. I have a 52x burner, so that's not the issue.
