    Windows 8.1 startup
    « on: September 14, 2014, 03:47:26 PM »
Hi, Folks! Just bought a new computer loaded with Windows 8.1. It has an AMD A8-7600 Accelerated Processor, 64 bit, 8GB DDR3, 2TB hard drive, HP Pavilion 500-314 Desktop. My old O.S was Vista Premium on an Acer. Seem to be getting around OK, but when I leave it on, it goes to blue screen in about 20 minutes. Have to re-start every time. Doesn't seem right. Set it to never sleep. What am I missing?

When you say blue screen, do you mean a blue screen error? Exactly what do you see on the screen?

Absolutely nothing. The mouse pointer is on the screen but that is it.

If you bought this at a brick-and-mortar retail store and the store allows returns within 2 weeks or some certain (find out if you don't know) and the time period has not ended yet, I would take it back to the store and request an exchange or refund.  Or, perhaps allow them to repair it; in this case, make sure it's working right when you get it back.

If returning to the seller is not an option, I'd immediately contact the manufacturer.  Of course, be sure to do this while the computer is under warranty.

I messed with the power options, sleep and screensaver settings. No more blue screen. Still kinda wonder about that. Thanks!

            Then stick with it...
Topic starter should show a solved Tab at the bottom of the screen...
            Cheers.
