Microsoft Windows Media Player..I need Help Please
« on: November 02, 2005, 11:48:00 AM »
Every time I try to play a video file through Windows Media Player it give me an error and closes. I have to use 2nd and 3rd party programs to play DVD's and media files of most kinds.

I am running Media Player 10. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and even installing version 9, but it won't let me do that either. Nothing seems to work.

If anybody has any ideas please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in Advance :)

I would prefer the third party programs, and you have to have a decoder installed anyway to make it MP work, I believe. I'm sure version 9 was that way.

Why all the hubbub about Media Player?

The message is "Windows Media Player has encountered an error and must shut down. We are sorry for your inconvenience."

I like to use Media Player because up until now it has always been a very good program.

If you have a suggestion as to a better Media Player please suggest away LOL.

Thanks

It asks me if I want to send an error report to Microsoft and I usually click on "Don't Send". It doesn't give any pertinent information at all.

It wouldn't be such a pain but every time I receive a video file through email I have to go through with saving it and opening it with something different instead of just clicking on it to open it. I don't know if that makes any sense or not but anyway.

I've been playing video with ATI Multimedia Center. Some of the files are downloaded and some are burnt to disk.

Everything works and is as up to date as I know how to make it. I suppose I'll just continue to do things the way I have been.

Thanks for trying guys.
