Windows for workgroups incompatible dos

Ive recently installed WFW 3.11 and when i try to start up it comes up with the message:  "you started your computer with a version of ms-dos thats incompatible with this version of windows"   then stops and you have to restart.
Does anyone know how to get round this problem?
Or will i have to get a different version of DOS?
The computer is a toshiba t2110 , i think its a 486 processor.
Is there anywhere i can download DOS of the net?

So you installed it without installing DOS first? That does not work, as you now know. What were you attempting to use as DOS?

I can guarantee it will run on 6.22.

I still use Dos 6.22 & WFW 3.11 for the "auld" times.

All MS-DOS versions are still copyright to Microsoft so where can they be downloaded???  Can't mention on open forum

I just checked mine...
DOS 6.22 + Enhanced Tools is 3 floppies.
Windows 3.11 WfW is 8 floppies.
Some 15Mbs all up. The good old days.  
I'm sure they are available...
