    Copying a film file.
    « on: November 26, 2014, 04:23:38 AM »
    Hi all

I am trying to copy a film from an external hard drive to a SD card connected to the pc.  After the transfer is completed there is no thumbnail picture or details within properties.  It wont play with Windows Media Player.  There is just a picture of a music note.  Any help would be appreciated.

What video format is the video in?  Do you have that format (it's extension) associated with WMP?  You may need to download codecs or use a different video player such as VLC.

It's only avi format.  Windows Media Player can play the same file from the external hard drive.  I have Windows 7 Codec Pack installed.

Ok, I see.  I assume you don't get any error messages during the copy.

How big is the avi file?  What file system is the SD card formatted in (NTSF, FAT, FAT32)?  I wonder if the file is large enough that it is running up against a limitation of the file system.

I have just found the problem.  It's a fake SanDisk 128GB card.  It shall be returned to the seller.  Cheers.

For the benefit of all reading this, SanDIsk does not make fake memory chips.

A significant high number of eBayers have been deceived by inferior quality, unpopular cheap, slow SD rebadged as SanDisk Ultra II for quick profit as a very high percentage of all 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB SD listed on eBay are counterfeit items. Genuine buyers got scammed by fraudulent eBay sellers everyday and this process keep on repeating.
