Dead Motherboard?
« on: February 13, 2015, 10:43:59 PM »
Greetings Computerhope!

Two weeks ago my dad gave me a call saying his computer is dead. The machine would turn on for a few seconds and turn off. Nothing wold show on the screen no beeping nothing. When i came home the computer powered on fine. Last week i got a call again and now it refuses to Post at all.

Once the computer is plugged into Power all the fans turn for maybe 5 seconds then everything dies unless the system is unplugged.

I started by trying a different video card, RAM swap, different PSU, CMOS reset, i even swapped back the OLD CPU. This machine had a dual core CPU but last year  updated the firmware and popped in a phenom Quad core. And still the same result. I even ripped the motherboard from the case and tried one stick of RAM and a different GPU. Same result.

Is the motherboard dead or is there something else i can try that ive missed?

The system is a M2N-SLI Delux Motherboard from Asus
AMD Pheonom 9500 (i think) Quad core
3Gb of DDr2 memory
Nvidia 6800 Xtreme Video Card.

Any suggestions are accepted. If i can get the system to work again, then fantastic! If not, time to look at some new Intel boards. But before that what other options do i have?
