    Anti-virus: eset ? kapersky? bitdefender?
    « on: March 26, 2015, 04:59:00 AM »
Looking for a good highly recommended anti-virus software.

Right now on this PC I have kapersky.  I do like it and have not ran into issues.

For my build Im checking to see if anyone else rec. something better.

I read a lot of good things about bitdefender , kapersky and eset.

I love Kaspersky adn they're my favorite. But I didn't enjoy paying for it yearly. So I decided to go with a free solution and the one I currenly use is Avast like many others have also mentioned. The ads are a bit annoying the the newer version of the antivirus, but they can easily be disabled in the options.

If I had to recommend another paid option, I would recommend NOD32 by ESET, which is right next to Kaspersky and depending on who you talk to they will recommend it one way or another. Another good free option would be Avira, which I'm currently giving a test drive on my main rig, but for some reason I keeps giving me the "closed umbrella" icon, indicating that virus protection is currently disabled and everytime it try to re-enable it, it freezes or does do anything...but other people have said good things about it!

Curious to were you read that, I personally have heard users complaing about their PC slowing down from Kaspersky or ESET. If anything I remember a 7-8 years ago that people would complain of Norton and McAfee doing that.

I like and recommend, this year Baidu Antivirus professional which is free and add free.
      Available from here

      http://antivirus.baidu.com/en/

Can't wait for the comments that it is Chinese, A ripe off of the full Avast version and that all the reviews from last year said it wasn't worth having.

Well the first 2 still apply but the last "that it isn't worth having" no longer applies.

I've been using Kaspersky Internet Security for years and love it. Well worth the price.
